Sikkim: The Himalayan Alpine Circuit

Gangtok | 7 days 6 Nights

Trip Overview

Experience the majestic serenity of the Eastern Himalayas on this 7-day immersive journey. This itinerary is thoughtfully crafted to balance the vibrant culture of Gangtok, the high-altitude alpine beauty of North Sikkim’s Lachung, and the reflective, panoramic landscapes of Pelling. By gradually ascending and using optimized routes, you get to witness glacial lakes, ancient monasteries, and the mighty Kanchenjunga range with the comfort and flexibility of a private vehicle.

Itinerary

Day 01 – Arrival to Pelling

Arrive at Bagdogra by noon. The drive to Pelling is scenic but long (5–6 hours). Staying in Pelling first allows you to relax in the mountains immediately.

Day 02 – West Sikkim Immersion

Visit the Pelling Skywalk and Rabdentse Ruins. This is a "slow" day to let the body adjust to the mountain air.

Day 03 – The Cultural Transfer

Drive from Pelling to Gangtok (approx. 5 hours). Logical stop: Visit Namchi’s Char Dham and Samdruptse Hill on the way. This turns a long travel day into a sightseeing opportunity.

Day 04 – Gangtok City Life

Visit Rumtek Monastery and Tashi Viewpoint. Spend the evening at MG Marg, which is pedestrian-only and perfect for walking and local food.

Day 05 – Journey to the High North

Drive from Gangtok to Lachung (approx. 5 hours). This is a beautiful route with many waterfalls (like Bhim Nala). Reach Lachung, rest, and prepare for the next morning.

Day 06 – Alpine Beauty

Visit Yumthang Valley (and Zero Point if permits allow). After exploring the alpine meadows, start the drive back to Gangtok in the afternoon to avoid a very early start the next day.

Day 07 – Departure

Drive from Gangtok to Bagdogra (4–5 hours).
